Marketing Case Study

Fried Egg I'm In Love

When you think about eggs, do you think about the beautiful scent of them or deliciousness? Well, Jace Krause thought about deliciousness. He always dreamed of having his own business. That dream did not become reality until he moved to Oregon from California. He knew that he loved to cook and knew how to cook some yummy eggs. That is when the idea to popped in his head. He started the food cart and it remained successful, so became the sole proprietor in 2017. Krause did not have any training other then working in other restaurants chains, but that did not stop him. After he became the sole proprietor, he opened another food cart in Portland, OR.

Krause favorite meal of the day is breakfast, and of course it is eggs. He would frequently make his wife's favorite fried egg sandwich, so he recreated that to a signature shop for his food truck which is called Fried Egg I'm in Love. Fried Egg I'm In Love value proposition is feed hungry and sleepy people in Portland some favorable sandwiches. According to FEIIL (Fried Egg I'm in Love) official page, they are known for the best Portland, OR. breakfast sandwiches.  They have gluten-free and vegetarian options which allows other that have dietary need to also enjoy these sandwiches. They have a list of different sandwiches they sell but they also sell a burrito, coffee (hot or cold), mimosas, local beers, and hard ciders. This small food truck in Portland sells all that! It is amazing, Another awesome things about this sandwiches is that the bread come from a Portland French Bakery and the eggs are from the local farm.

FEIIL has three active social medias: Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter. It looks like they frequently post there and they do an awesome job to share customer pictures because they really enjoy that. They are more active with their Facebook and Instagram which I think it is okay. They just need to stay active in a couple pages. Too many online accounts can turn sloppy sometimes if not well managed. I think Krause somewhat created a Purple Cow as Seth Godin would call a unique business. There is not many companies that specialize in sandwiches and more importantly egg sandwiches. It is a great idea and probably not very costly.

I looked at some of their reviews and most of them talk about how good the sandwiches are but there are a lot that are talking about how long the wait line is to get an excuse me what? A sandwich egg? Well as you can imagine people are not very happy but more hangry about the sandwich taking more than 30 minutes to be ready. They thought a food truck would deliver their food quickly but they were wrong. If I was the marketer manager of this shop, I would really pay close attention to the customer because then again I do not want to disappoint the sneezers. I would communicate with the manager and ask him why the sandwiches are taking way to long to cook. Maybe they need to get a bigger food truck or more employees to make the sandwiches.

I think Krause had an amazing idea to feed hungry Portlanders but people that are hungry want their food quickly and he needs to work on that. Another thing that he needs to do is invent new sandwiches were people can feel like it was worthwhile the wait and that they cannot replicate the sandwich. Many people have also left reviews that say they could had easily made the sandwich at home, but they need to create something customers need to come back for more.

Questions:
-Would you drive all the way to Portland to try these mouthwatering egg sandwich?

-How disappointed did you feel after reading the bad reviews about the wait?

-What do you think they should include in their menu?
